    The tiny island republic of Malta is the 
    Mediterranean in miniature. St. Paul brought Christianity here in 60 A.D., 
    when he was shipwrecked on the island, and the Christian Hospitaler knights built many grand churches and palaces. But the 
Arabs also ruled Malta, leaving behind numerous minarets and a local tongue that
